Positive Behaviour for Learning

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a framework which assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people. Bonbeach Primary is still in the early stages of rolling out the PBL framework but, when it has been fully implemented, teachers and students will have more time to focus on relationships and classroom instruction. Students and staff will benefit from:

  • increased respectful and positive behaviour
  • increased time focused on instruction
  • improved social-emotional wellbeing
  • positive and respectful relationships among students and staff
  • increased adoption of evidence-based instructional practicesa predictable learning environment with improved perceptions of safety and increased attendance

PBL supports schools to identify and successfully implement evidence-based whole-school practices to improve behaviour and enhance learning outcomes for all students.

You Can Do It!

You Can Do It! (YCDI) is a well-being program aimed at promoting the social-emotional well-being and achievement of all children. Bonbeach Primary has been following the program for three years and it sits within the PBL framework. The YCDI mission is to strengthen the five social and emotional skills and values (the “5 Keys”) which all children need to manage their own learning, behaviour and emotional well-being including: Confidence (work, social), Persistence, Organisation, Getting Along and Resilience. Unique among educational programs, YCDI emphasises the importance of teaching children different “Ways of Thinking” that help them to develop in each of these five areas.
