Assembly will start at 1:10pm and the students will be dismissed at 1:30pm.
First day back next year for students is Wednesday 31st January.
Special Thank You
A big special thank you to Monique Grima who has literally run our Uniform Shop prior to it being offsite and then the 2nd hand uniform shop, single-handed for about 5 years. Her hard work has raised $815 this year alone which is used to enhance our curriculum program.
Another thank you to Jenny Ferguson who will be taking over from her in 2024.
Book Orders
It is very easy to overlook some things in the hustle, bustle and business of this time of year.
A gentle reminder that all orders must be placed via COS by Wednesday 3rd January to ensure delivery to the school on the 17th January. All details on how to order are on a separate page of the newsletter headed ‘2024 Booklist Reminder’ or can be found on the BPS Website.
A Bonbeach Dynasty is over.
Bonbeach PS has been open for 67 years and we have had a member of the Shaw/Love families here for 63 years. I am sure that this would be unique in a suburban school. Unfortunately, this connection ends with Charlie Shaw graduating at the end of the year.
Families leaving
We do have some families leaving at the end of the year for a number of reasons. We wish them well for their future schooling.
A reminder to those families that are leaving the school to download your children’s reports before the school year ends as you will no longer have access via Compass after you have left.
Holiday Wishes
We wish all of our families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Have a safe, happy and relaxing holiday break and we look forward to seeing everyone back next year.
Farewell to Staff members
We will be saying farewell to some of our teachers this year. Mr McCormack, Ms Hallowell, Ms Tremewen and Ms Brennan. We thank them for their brilliant contributions to Bonbeach PS and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
regards
Ken & Jayne

Last Thursday, the Environment leaders from our school, and those from a few other primary schools, went in Mrs Ballos’s car to Sorrento pier for the Dolphin Research Institute (DRI) excursion to look at the marine life in the bay. The purpose of the day was to remind everyone of the need to keep our sea and waterways free from litter, and as a motivator for them to become strong champions for our marine environment.
After the initial safety briefing by the DRI organiser, Jacqui, students put on a wet suit, mask, and snorkel, and went snorkelling at two different locations. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any dolphins this time (like we did last year), however, we did see Australian fur seals, sea dragons and stingrays. Whilst all the students were swimming amongst the sea creatures, Judd also happened to find a fishing rod in the water, and was able to keep it. That was an unexpected and lucky find for him! The students and staff were each given a hot chocolate drink to warm themselves up as the water was really cold! The students were well behaved and great representatives for our school.
Here are few comments and photos of our Environment leaders, Alice V, Sophie L-D, Charlie S, and Judd H.
“It was a really good experience. The fur seals were really adorable” Sophie L-D.
“It was really enjoyable and really fun experience” Judd H.
“Definitely worth the wait the entire year for”. Charlie S.
“It was the most fun I’ve had in water” Alice V.

Environment team leader

The December Farmers Market was a huge success, with 1550 adults through the gates and 90 stalls it was a vibrant and bustling. The addition of Santa, floral wreath making, and the Christmas goodies being sold, added a festive touch to the atmosphere.
A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who contributed to making the event a success, your assistance is very much appreciated.
We look forward to our next market on 11th February 2024. Save the date as it promised to be another fantastic day.
