Parking Changes

Parents who normally drop their children off in Breeze Street need to be aware that there have been changes to the parking signs on Breeze Street between Warrawitur Court and Sandalong Court. (ie. the stretch alongside the Preschool fence).

There is now No Parking between 8-9:30am and 2:30-4pm.

We have been informed that this will be regularly checked by bylaws officers.

Garden Program Cooking

Grade 1/2 students were busy during their Garden Program sessions this week, cooking up a storm using the produce they have been growing this semester (JKB next week).

The menu included Lemon Balls, Lemon Myrtle Tea Cake, Garden Herb Crackers and Tomato “sushi”.
Students grated, squeezed, chopped, measured, kneaded, rolled, communicated, worked together, took turns, shared, laughed, cried over onion and best of all tried new foods!

A huge thank you to the parents who were able to lend a hand, your assistance was very much appreciative as this program would not be possible without your help.

Community Announcements

Kingston Youth Services is excited to announce a free upcoming online parent information session aimed at parents with students starting secondary school in 2024 – Starting Secondary School with Sharon Witt.

The transition from Primary to Secondary School for children (and their parents) can be an anxious time. It marks the beginning of their teenage years and a new phase in their education. High School typically involves processing a time of change, developing a greater level of independence, more challenging academics and new social dynamics.

During this one-hour presentation (with additional time for questions) experienced secondary educator and author, Sharon Witt will share some of the best tips and strategies parents can use to best support their young person entering secondary school.

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding the adolescent brain
  • Managing change: timetables, new school, teachers
  • Homework
  • Navigating friendships
  • Communication with teachers
  • Managing their Health: sleep, exercise, nutrition
  • Coping with stress
  • Keeping them safe online
