A Message from Ken and Lisa

                               End of School Year

It’s hard to believe but tomorrow is the last school day for the year and there’s only 8 more sleeps until Christmas!

Assembly will commence just after 1pm tomorrow and dismissal will be 1:30pm.

It’s with mixed emotions we say goodbye to our Year 6 students. We’re sad that they are leaving the school but excited for them as they embark on the secondary school journey.

We wish them all the very best for the future and we also wish the very best to the families that are leaving Bonbeach at the end of the year.

Assembly tomorrow

We are going to hold our end of year assembly on the basketball court tomorrow from 1pm. This is entirely weather permitting and, if the weather is inclement, it will be held in the hall.

Parents are welcome to our outdoor assembly but, unfortunately, cannot attend if it is in the hall.

The exit tunnel will be held on the basketball court if there is an outside assembly. If assembly is in the hall, the tunnel will start at the middle door of the hall and go along the front of the new learning centre.

2021 drop off and pick up

Since returning to school from remote learning this Term, and the arrangements for dropping students off in the morning, we have seen an increase in students separating from parents smoothly and the additional time in the room in the morning has allowed them to get organised for the day and settle in so they are ready to learn from 9:00am. Therefore, we have made the decision to continue with the arrangement of having a bell at 8:45am to signal that students can enter straight into their classrooms from this time. Parents will be able to enter the school grounds to drop their children off at their classroom external door. Students will be able to enter from any gate. There will still be staff on duty in the grounds from 8:45am. A reminder that the yard is not supervised until 8:45am and students should not be arriving to school prior to this time.

We will continue with dismissing students from the basketball court during the construction of our admin/STEM building.

Farewell

Two of our staff members are leaving us at the end of this year. I am very sad to see Ms Scarlett and Ms Levy go and  wish them all the best for the future. Both have added something very special to Bonbeach and we hope to see them back here one day.

Open Morning

We will be opening up the new Learning Centre between 10:30am - 12pm, Thursday 21st January to give any parents the opportunity to come in and tour the building.

Finally…

A really big thank you to all our families for your outstanding assistance and perseverance during the remote learning period. It has been the most challenging year that we have been through as a staff and we couldn’t have done as well as we did, without your support.

We wish you all a safe and happy holiday and look forward to a fantastic (COVID free!!) 2021.

regards

Ken & Lisa

Semester 2 2020Student Reports

Dear parents and carers,

I am writing to provide an update on changes to Semester Two student reports.

The Department of Education and Training has adjusted the expectations around student reporting for Semester Two in recognition of the continued disruption caused by Covid-19.

While we have continued to deliver a teaching and learning program and monitor the learning of each student, we have adjusted our semester reporting to reflect the recent period of remote learning.

This semester, a simplified, written report will be provided for each student, focussing on what progress has been made and what has been achieved by each child.

Reports will include:

  • a description of the learning programs taught throughout the semester;
  • a comment on student participation and engagement in the learning programs offered;
  • for English and Mathematics:
    • student achievement information
    • progress shown over the last twelve months
  • for specialist subjects:
    • a description of the learning programs taught throughout the semester;
    • a short comment on progress and achievement across the semester.

I’d like to thank our families for your continued support throughout 2020.

Kind Regards,

Ken Jones
