A Message from Ken and Lisa

New Building

This is a very exciting time for us because, after all the uncertainty of what Level 4 Restrictions might mean to the completion of our new Learning Centre, we have been notified that the building will be handed over to the school on Friday 11th and we will be commencing the moving of grade furniture and fittings on Monday 14th September!

This will be primarily the early years moving into the new building. Preps, 1s & 2s will be in there and Years 3 & 4 will be moving to the portables.

We are hopeful that we will see our students back on site sometime next term and it is fabulous that they will be able to come back to new rooms!

Ms Roolker and I have shot a short video that will be available via a Compass notification and on our web page once Mrs McCallum has worked her editing magic.

New Staff Member

As most of you would already be aware, Ms Bolton is commencing Family Leave and is due to have a baby soon. We are very sad to see her leave but, obviously, very happy for her.

We are very happy to welcome Ms Kate Levy to our school as her replacement next term. She will be starting the last week of this term so that she can meet her students and families before the start of next term.

Family Trivia

A huge thank you to Mr Mac for organising and running our first online event recently with the Family Friendly Trivia. A lot of time and effort went into the planning and preparation for this event and I’m sure that all the families who attended, would agree that Mr Mac was a great host! Thank you to the families who participated and for all of your fantastic feedback and comments. It was great to see so many families participating and enjoying the trivia, dancing to the music etc. Due to the success of this event, Mr Mac has volunteered to run another trivia on the last day of term!

Prep Enrolments 2021

A gentle reminder to enrol your child for Prep for 2021, if you haven’t already done so yet. If you do know of other parents in the same situation who may not see this newsletter, could you please inform them too?

We really need to organise Preps earlier than the other grade levels to ensure that no one misses out on transition days, Information sessions or general information that is so important to starting school.

Footy Week

In the last week of Term 3, we traditionally have a Footy Day where students dress up in their favourite football teams colours (any code) and participate in a range of fun activities. This year, we need to do things a little bit differently!

To celebrate everyone’s hard work this term, we have decided to have a Footy theme week.

Tuesday 15th September – Footy Fun Day (details below).

Wednesday 16th September – Specialist Day. Mr Mac’s PE lessons will have a footy theme.

Friday 18th September – Mr Mac will be back with a Footy themes trivia (please see his Facebook post)

Footy Fun Day

On Tuesday 15th September, we will have a Footy Fun Day. Children will be encouraged to dress up in their team’s colours on this day (any code). All students will be provided with a grid of choice activities to complete on this day that have a footy twist to them. Activities will cover a range of areas including maths, literacy, design and creativity, cooking etc.

Most activities will be open ended so they are suitable for all ages and can be completed to their level of ability.

All grades will receive the same activity grid so that siblings can work together on the activities.

Students are encouraged to have a go at 5 of the activities.

On this day, our teachers will be planning for Term 4 so there will not be any Google Meets. A roll call question will be posted to Google Classroom for teachers to mark attendance on this day. We would love to see what your family gets up to and encourage families to send photos or videos to Mrs McCallum for inclusion in the assembly (nikki.mccallum@education.vic.gov.au).

A Message from the PE Department

Bonbeach Primary School Footy Week!

From Monday 14th September (last week of term), we’ll be holding a footy week instead of a standalone footy day we would normally have at school. The week will consist of three separate days of footy fun!

Tuesday 15th- Teachers have a planning day as per the education department (Professional Practice Day). Classroom teachers will leave a football related activities matrix for students to complete. It is optional if you wish to post anything to seesaw this day.

Wednesday 16th- Is the specialist day as per normal. Mr Mac’s PE lesson will all be football related physical activities. (Not just AFL).

Friday 18th- To celebrate the last day of term and to finish off footy week, there will be a special football themed trivia commencing at 4pm. A special prize of a Rebel Sport voucher will be up for grabs for the winning family!

As there’ll be no gold coin donation to wear footy colours, we ask that a suggested donation of any amount be considered to participate. All money raised will be going to the “Fight footy colours day foundation” (Link on Bonbeach Primary School Facebook page).

All week students are encouraged to wear their footy colours when doing any of the related activities.
