September Friendship Focus: Forgiveness
This September, our school will be focusing on the important friendship
trait of
forgiveness.
Forgiveness does not mean that what happened was okay, or that we
have to forget about our feelings. It means choosing to let go of anger
and hurt when we are ready and working towards moving forward.
Students can show forgiveness by:
● listening when someone offers a genuine apology
● accepting that everyone makes mistakes
● giving others a chance to make better choices
● using kind words instead of staying angry or seeking revenge
● talking through problems and finding a way to move forward
● remembering that friendships can sometimes have disagreements, but these can often be repaired.
Throughout September, students who are seen demonstrating forgiveness and making positive friendship choices may receive a raffle ticket. At the end of the week, raffle tickets will be drawn and some lucky student will
win a prize!
We look forward to seeing our students demonstrate forgiveness, kindness and understanding as we continue to build positive and respectful friendships across our school.
Let’s remember: Everyone makes mistakes, and forgiveness can help friendships grow stronger!
