A Message from Ken and Jayne

It is hard to believe we are nearly halfway through the term already!

Teachers are currently busy preparing Semester 1 reports. Please be advised that due to current industrial action, Semester 1 reports will include curriculum outcomes and subject descriptions outlining the learning experiences your child has had the opportunity to engage in this semester. Personal comments as well as work and behaviour outcomes will not be included.

We eagerly anticipate the District Cross Country this Friday and thank Mrs McCallum for her efforts in organising Bonbeach Primary’s participation. We wish all students competing the very best of luck!

Next week we look forward to the Smile Squad van commencing on Monday. Students will bring home small information packs tomorrow to promote their services and support positive dental care habits.

Education Week also begins next week, with the theme “Showcase Your School”, encouraging school communities to celebrate what makes their school special. To celebrate, each year level will contribute a newsletter article highlighting the learning and activities they have engaged in throughout the week. Please keep an eye on Compass for this exciting publication next Thursday.

The Year 1/2 Swimming Program commences on Tuesday 9th June, following the King’s Birthday public holiday on Monday 8th June.

Parent Teacher Interviews will be held in the final week of term on Tuesday 23rd and Thursday 25th June. Bookings will be available via Compass later in the term.

We are also excited to share that this year’s Prep to Year 6 students will participate in a whole-school Athletics Day on Wednesday 24th June. Students will travel by bus to the venue, with Prep to Year 2 students attending for part of the day. Further details will be provided shortly.

To conclude a fantastic term, our annual school disco will be held during school hours on Thursday 25th June. Tickets are available via Compass, with sales closing on 17th June. We look forward to seeing the creative disco outfits students are welcome to wear on the day!

regards

Ken & Jayne

ICAS Assessments

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Within our school community there are students who shine brightly, displaying exemplary dedication and academic talent. They deserve to be recognised and this year we are again giving them the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their talents in the world-renowned ICAS competition.

What is ICAS?

ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge

their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.

ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.

Learn more about ICAS here: (icasassessments.com/products-icas/).

ICAS results and certificate

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.
