A Message from Ken and Jayne

Welcome to our week 4 newsletter!

We’re thrilled to see our students settling in so beautifully! It’s been wonderful to watch them learning, making friends, and embracing the new school year with enthusiasm.

Thank you to all the parents who met with us on Tuesday and for those joining us this afternoon. Sharing information about your children helps us meet their needs and strengthens the partnership between home and school.

We’re looking forward to a successful and exciting year ahead with all our students and families!

The slides provide important information about curriculum, routines, expectations and key dates for each level in 2026. They are a helpful reference as you and your child prepare for the new school year.

For your convenience, all 2026 Level Information slides will remain available on Compass until the end of the school year, so you can revisit them whenever needed.

Student Dress Code – A Quick Reminder for Families

At Bonbeach Primary School, our Student Dress Code reflects our shared values of inclusion, pride and belonging. It helps create a strong sense of community and ensures all students feel equal, safe and ready for learning.

Why We Have a Dress Code

Our uniform helps to:

  • Build school pride and a sense of belonging
  • Promote equality and reduce clothing-based competition
  • Ensure students are dressed safely and appropriately
  • Present our school positively in the wider community

When It Applies

Students are expected to wear correct uniform:

  • To and from school
  • During school hours
  • At school events and activities

Uniform & Appearance Expectations

  • Uniforms should be clean, in good repair and clearly named
  • School colours are navy, sky blue, black and white
  • Only stud or sleeper earrings and watches are permitted
  • No cosmetics or coloured nail polish (clear only)
  • Shoulder-length hair should be tied back
  • School hats must be worn outdoors from mid-August to 30 April
  • Extreme hairstyles or colours are not permitted (except on special event days)

Purchasing Uniforms

Uniforms can be ordered online through State Schools Relief using Shopify (details are on our website).

Our Parents and Friends Association also run a second-hand uniform shop once a month — Compass posts will be sent out providing upcoming dates.

For more information, please refer to our Student Dress Code policy on the school website.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a positive, inclusive and proud school community.

Easing into Adolescence: Resources for Families (Years 5–8)

We are pleased to share the launch of the Easing into adolescence webpage, designed to support families of students aged 10–14 years (Grade 5 to Year 8).

The move from primary to secondary school is an important milestone. One of the key contributors to a successful transition is strong partnership between schools and parents and carers. These resources have been developed to help families confidently support their children as they navigate early adolescence and the transition to secondary school.

What’s on the webpage?

The webpage includes:

  • Practical guidance on emotion coaching to support young people through the ups and downs of adolescence. This guidance was developed by experts from the The University of Melbourne as part of the Tuning into Teens program.
  • Strategies to support learning and wellbeing, developed with parenting expert and clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller.
  • Accessible video resources, with subtitles available in 10 languages. Families can select their preferred language via the translations page.

These resources can be particularly helpful in the lead-up to key transition milestones, such as Year 7 Orientation Day, and throughout the four-year transition period from Grade 5 to Year 8.

Policy, guidance and resources

All related policy information, guidance and supporting materials are available in the Policy and Advisory Library under:
