Student Mobile Phone Policy

Reminder: Mobile Phone and Smart Watch Use at School

In accordance with the Department of Education directive, students are not permitted to bring mobile phones into the classroom. All mobile phones must be dropped off at the school office before school and collected after school.

Smart watches must be set to ‘School Mode’ during school hours to avoid distractions and support a focused learning environment.

These expectations are in place to help ensure students remain engaged and focused during class time.

If you need to contact your child during school hours, please either:

  • Call the school office on Ph. 9772 3471, or
  • Message your child’s teacher via Seesaw.

More information is available in our Mobile Phones – Student Use Policy on the school website.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

School Garden Update

Our students have been hard at work bringing our Community Garden to life! Over the past weeks, they’ve been busy building garden beds and exploring planting options, learning valuable skills along the way.

A huge thank you to Brett McDonald and his dog Bohdi for generously giving their time and helping with the construction of the garden beds last week — your support is greatly appreciated!

We’re excited to see this space grow and flourish.

Our school garden is buzzing with activity as we make the most of the autumn season! Students have been getting their hands dirty and learning valuable lessons about sustainability, food production, and nature.

We’ve had a fantastic pumpkin harvest, and the garden beds are overflowing with these hearty, homegrown vegetables. Students have loved seeing the fruits of their labour come to life!

As part of our sustainability focus, we’ve been saving Snake Bean seeds to plant in future seasons. This hands-on process teaches students about seed cycles and the importance of preserving plant varieties.

Our much-loved cucamelons are ready and being harvested! These tiny, tangy treats are being sold for the Bonbeach community to enjoy—perfect for lunchboxes or garden-fresh snacking.

Students have also been planting new seedlings and learning about natural ways to protect plants. With companion planting and eco-friendly pest control methods, we’re growing healthy crops while caring for our environment.

Our garden program continues to inspire students to engage in growing, sharing, and learning from the natural world around them!

ICAS

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Within our school community there are students who shine brightly, displaying exemplary dedication and academic talent. They deserve to be recognised and this year we are again giving them the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their talents in the world-renowned ICAS competition.

What is ICAS?

ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.

ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.

Learn more about ICAS here: (icasassessments.com/products-icas/).

ICAS results and certificate
Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.
