A Message from the Principal

3/4 Briars Camp

Year 3/4 students enjoyed some quality time with their peers and teachers and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones, bravely participating in many amazing and daring adventures at Briars Camp last week. Although the weather improved as the week progressed we didn’t let a bit of rain dampen our spirits and after fun filled days we warmed up with hot showers, hearty meals and relaxed in the toasty common room. Many fantastic memories were created that will stay with them for years to come.

    

    

Staff Professional Practice Day Reminder

A reminder that Staff Professional Practice Day will be held next Friday 26th May. All staff will have their Professional Practice Day on this day and students will not be required to attend school.

COVID

We have had a few confirmed cases of COVID amongst our students in the past week. If you are aware that your child has contracted COVID, could you please notify the school.

Bike Safety

While we encourage families to ride to school the school community is reminded to please ensure you walk your bikes and scooters in the school grounds. Due to the number of people and small children in the grounds at drop off and pick up times we ask that you do not ride in the school ground to ensure everyone’s safety. Meet our new Assistant Principal



I am excited to be a part of the Bonbeach Primary School community and look forward to meeting and getting to know you all. Please come and say hello and introduce yourselves when you see me around the school.

I am a passionate educator and strive to ensure that every child feels valued, happy, confident and achieves their best each and every day. I also endeavour to support students, families and staff to maintain a positive learning environment where a strong home/school partnership is nurtured and valued.

Prior to teaching I worked in the fashion industry and established my own label. My desire to make a difference in children’s lives through education drew me back to study and I have worked in education since 2009. I have a strong background in curriculum, Literacy and Inclusion, have built my knowledge and skills through teaching, Learning Specialist and Assistant Principal roles and am delighted to be part of the Bonbeach Primary team.

I live in Cheltenham with my husband and have 3 children aged 16, 21 and 24, a naughty cavoodle, named Livvy and Vegemite our cat. I love outdoor activities, kayaking, bush walking and the beach, especially in winter. When I have time I enjoy anything creative, restoring furniture, painting, pottery and drawing, and love cooking and gardening.

School Disco


The P and F would like to invite all students to a night of fun, laughter and non-stop dancing.

Location: School Hall

Date: Friday 16th June

Times: Prep to Year 2 session 4:30pm - 5:15pm             
            Year 3 to Year 6 session 5:30pm - 6:30pm

All children are to be dropped off and collected from the hall door. 

Cost: Ticket cost is $7 per child and includes a little treat bag

All tickets must be purchased by Friday 2nd June. NO tickets will be available after this date and NO tickets will be sold at the door. 
 
Parents are to enter with their children via the side entrance (near portables) to the School Hall.
ALL STUDENTS MUST BE SIGNED IN USING THE PROVIDED SHEETS PRIOR TO ENTERING THE SCHOOL HALL.
Children attending the 1st session must arrive promptly at 4:30pm and be picked up at 5:15pm sharp.
Children attending the 2nd session will not be signed in or admitted until 5:30pm and must be picked up at 6:30pm.

Pick up point - Children must be picked up by a guardian via the library entrance to the hall.
ALL STUDENTS MUST BE SIGNED OUT BEFORE LEAVING THE SCHOOL HALL AT THE END OF THE DISCO.
THIS WILL BE ORGANISED HOME GROUP BY HOME GROUP.

Parents will not be able to stay (it is the children’s night) unless they are selected as a parent helper on the night.
Children will not be permitted to leave the venue unless accompanied by an adult.
The toilet area will be supervised at all times.

The P and F appreciate your assistance and support in making this a fun night for the children.


ICAS Assessments

Dear Parents/Guardians, 

We are delighted to inform you that Bonbeach Primary School will be participating in the world-renowned ICAS competitions again this year. 

What is ICAS? 

ICAS is an online academic competition that is designed to assess students’ higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee and Digital Technologies. 

Each assessment celebrates students’ accomplishments by providing opportunities for recognition and development. Every student who participates will receive a printed certificate and an online results report. Top performers will be eligible for medals. 

The 2023 online ICAS assessments will be held in Term 3 at Bonbeach Primary School on:

How to participate in ICAS 

Parents register for one or more assessments online.

Please note payment cannot be made through the school office.

 If you wish for your child to participate in ICAS this year, please: 

  1. read about ICAS subjects and prices here:(https://www.icasassessments.com/products-icas
  2. go to Parent Portal here: (https://shop.icasassessments.com/pages/pps) 
  3. enter our school’s access code –VCO692 
  4. enter your child’s details, select the tests you would like to purchase, then proceed to payment (you will receive an order confirmation email, please keep this for your records)

IMPORTANT: Please enter your child’s name accurately into the system. The details you enter will appear on your child’s ICAS certificate.

Online payment closes on Monday, July 24th 2023. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Farmers' Market News

May Farmers’ Market

We had a beautiful day for our May Farmers’ Market resulting in the busiest market this year with 1507 adults attending! Thank you to all of the families who came along to support the school and the 73 stall holders.

Thank you to the families who volunteered to support our Mother’s Day Farmers’ Market. The May Market was organised by Year 3/4 and these students will benefit from your hard work with $1000 from the funds raised going directly to 3/4s for educational purposes.

Thank you to: Grace M, Paloma L, Daniel S, Dave G, Glen J, Archie M, Sima B, Kelly E, Nicole C, Sara J, Mayumi W, Ebony, Mandy M, Fiona B, Kate D, Amy and Jon C. for your support on the day.

The next market will be held on Sunday 11th June. Our Prep team will be organising volunteers for this market. If you are available to assist with set up, pack up or on gate collection, please keep an eye at on Compass for the Google Volunteer Form which will be published shortly. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
