NAPLAN
Congratulations to all our Year 3 and 5 students for the great effort they put into NAPLAN over the past week. All assessments have now been conducted in the areas of writing, reading, Conventions of Language (spelling, Grammar and Punctuation) and Numeracy. Opportunities for students who were absent on the day of an assessment to participate in a catch-up session, are being provided this week. The last day for catch up sessions will be Monday next week.
Later in the year, parents of students who sat NAPLAN, will receive a report outlining their results and we will share the schools’ results through the newsletter.
Assembly and last day of Term 1
Please be aware that there will be no assembly this Friday due to the Year 5/6 Interschool Sport Lightning Premiership. Assembly next Friday will be as normal.
There will be no assembly in the final week of Term, with students finishing up at 2:30pm on Thursday 6th April and Easter Bonnet parade at 9:15am on this day.
Staff Car Park
A reminder that the car park off Breeze Street is for staff only. Unless permission has been granted, no parents should be driving in here or parking at drop off and pick up times. To ensure the safety of all students, parents are also reminded to please not walk through the car park and encourage children to use the paths when entering/exiting the school.
Dirt for the Preschool
The Preschool is in need of dirt for a mud pit to enhance the children’s play area. If you, or someone you know, is putting in a pool or doing some renovating and you wish to get rid of some dirt, the Preschool would be very happy to take some!
Respectful Behaviours at School
Positive school environments are important because everyone has the right to be safe and play a shared role in being respectful. Everyone at school, particularly staff and parents/carers, play a role in making school a better place for learning and work.
Respectful behaviours are important in building strong, healthy and thriving school communities.
School staff in Victorian Government schools have to follow the Respectful Workplaces Policy to build and maintain a respectful workplace, including:
Parents/carers can create a positive environment for learning and work by:
By treating everyone with respect, parents/carers and schools can make sure students feel supported and cared for.
Respectfully raising complaints at your school
The Department supports your right to make a complaint and provides a Parent Complaints Policy to help you do this. Complaints from parents and carers help the school community by providing feedback to improve how a school operates.
Schools welcome complaints from parents and carers if they are communicated in a respectful and constructive way. They may ask that concerns be communicated in writing.
When a small number of parents and carers behave unacceptably towards a staff member or another member of the school community, this can affect their health, safety and wellbeing. The impact can also be felt by the wider school community.
Unacceptable or unreasonable behaviours include, but are not limited to:
Please remember, the best interests of the child are at the centre of both a school's and a family's decision-making.
To provide the best learning environment and experiences for students, we need to work together.
Feedback between schools and families helps to build and maintain relationships.
Families and schools may have differing opinions and as long as we express our views respectfully and have reasonable expectations of each other, we can reach a positive outcome.

Hi we are the environment leaders, I’m Charlie and this is Sophie, Judd and Alice.
We’re here to tell you about the environmental excursion that was held at St. Joseph’s Primary school. On Thursday 9th of March, we went to St. Joseph’s along with different schools, and learnt about marine life with ‘i sea i care.’ The i sea i care community gave us all a part in the activities about the marine life that we presented to the preps. I did the last part about what we can use instead of balloons to decorate a party. Charlie did the introduction, Judd taught the preps about the Australian Fur Seal, and Alice taught the preps about sea sponges. It was a lot of fun overall and we will be soon teaching our juniors about marine life.
