Welcome Back

Welcome back to school for 2022! We hope that the era of remote learning is over and that we will enjoy an uninterrupted year. We have included some important events and dates in this newsletter, so please read carefully.

Annual privacy reminder

Our school collects, uses, discloses and stores student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy.

Please take time to remind yourself of our school’s collection notice, found on our website or by clicking on this link.

For more information about privacy, refer to: Schools’ Privacy Policy — information for parents

Respectful Community Relationships

Our school community has demonstrated incredible solidarity and resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Being back in our classrooms with extra health and safety measures is another big transition, but it’s the very best one for our children's education. As we navigate these changes to onsite learning, including required mask wearing for some students, it’s more important than ever that adults in our school community treat each other with respect and kindness.

The Department of Education and Training has released a new policy that describes the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in Victorian school communities. The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff and adults.

There are also other resources to support safe and respectful relationships in our school community, including information about getting involved in the school, advice on how to raise a concern or complaint, and parenting support resources. You can find the new policy and these resources here.

You may also see a new poster up around our school, promoting positive behaviour.

Student injuries / accidents

Please be aware that the Department of Education does not provide accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents/carers of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs.

Parents/carers can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers.

Parent Teacher Interviews – Years 1-6

On Tuesday 22nd February and Thursday 24th February, we will be holding 10 minute ‘Meet the teacher’ interviews for parents/carers of students in Years 1-6.  Interviews for Prep students will be held following their Prep entrance testing session. This time will be an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher for 2022, discuss how they have settled into the new school year and for you to share information about your child that you think will assist their teacher to support them throughout 2022.

Our February Parent Teacher Interviews will be held online via Google Meet. Prior to your interview, your child’s teacher will send you a link for the meeting.

Bookings for interview timeslots will open on Compass on Monday 7th February.

Year Level Information Evenings

In the week beginning the 14th February, each year level will be holding an information session to provide you with information relevant to the year level and an opportunity to meet the team and ask any questions you may have.

Each information session will be held online via Google Meet. The year level team will send out the meeting link prior to the session.

The information sessions will be held online at 6:00pm on the following days and times:

Monday 14th February – Prep

Tuesday 15th February – Year 1/2

Wednesday 16th February – Year 3/4

Thursday 17th February – Year 5/6
